State-of-the-Art Halal Export Abattoir

HALAL FOOD INDUSTRIES PLC was established in 2013 and began operations in May 2014. Located on the Addis-Adama Expressway near Modjo, approximately 70 km from Addis Ababa, the facility was designed by Turkish and Chinese experts and occupies 4 hectares of land leased from the Oromia Regional Government for 40 years.

The company is a fully certified halal export abattoir, approved by the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture, as well as regulatory authorities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, its primary export destinations.

Product & Markets

What We Supply

HFI plc specialises in the slaughter and processing of goats and sheep for export to Middle Eastern markets. All processing is performed under strict halal-certified conditions, supervised by the Supreme Oromia Islamic Council.

Products are chilled and transported to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport via dedicated chilled trucks (5.5-ton and 11-ton capacity) for direct air freight to UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Three Bitzer cold rooms with combined capacity of 3,000 carcasses, maintaining product quality through the cold chain.

Skin Processing

Three skin-removing machines integrated into the processing line for full by-product utilisation.

Water Supply

Two deep wells with a 300,000-litre reservoir. Water quality tested and certified to WHO standards.

Wastewater Treatment

On-site plant processing 200,000 litres daily, meeting environmental compliance requirements.

Refrigerated Transport

Two dedicated Volvo chilled trucks (5.5-ton and 11-ton) for direct delivery to Addis Ababa Bole Airport.
